How to download (both phones — do separately)

  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Tap your profile photo (top right)
  3. Tap Offline maps
  4. Tap Select your own map
  5. Tap one of the links below — it opens Maps centered on that area
  6. Then go back to Offline maps → Select your own map and the map will already be showing the right area — tap Download
  7. Repeat for all 5 areas

Days 1 & 8 — arrival and departure
Reno airport, I-80, US-395 north of Carson City

Eastern Sierra North
Days 2 & 6 — US-395 corridor
Walker, Bridgeport, Hwy 108 Sonora Pass area — dead signal zone

Mono Lake / Lee Vining
Days 2 & 6 — Tioga Pass approach

Each area is 200–600 MB — all 5 together roughly 2 GB. Offline maps expire after 30 days, but you can renew within the app. Both phones need their own downloads — maps don't sync between devices.
